Dealing with betrayal?

I have just been told, through a plethora of lies, that my boyfriend cheated on me when I was away over New Years. It was a stand alone total shock - there was absolutely nothing to suggest this would ever happen, ever, as we were both (well obviously not him now) so happy. The problem is despite all the advice from every friend I have, I want to forgive him, does anyone think this is possible? Is it possible that despite his infidelity, he actually could still love me?
