Do you have to be rich to be a philanthropist?

I'm 17 and want to join a philanthropy group in my city, but I'm worried about if I'd have to give a lot of my money for things.. cause I don't have much money, as I don't have a job. Do you need money to do philanthropy? I want to help people, though. When I'm adult I'd be able to donate money, though. And in the group I'd be one of the youngest people.. cause people are generally in their 20s in the group. Should I join? I think it would look good on colleges but idk, and it interests me. they raise money through galas, runs, etc
