Why does the Chief Justice preside over the impeachment trial of a President, and not the President of Senate?

The Chief Justice is the Big man in The court system...As in Judge. That's why Judges are also kown as "The Honorable Justice Yada Yada now presiding... (see also Justice of the Peace)
