Is it the end of life?

I think we are at the end of the world. the rising gas prices will force people to stop driving, truckers will stop transporting food and meals will be hard to come by. people will start fighting over food and citys will be abandoned to search for the next meal. the economy is already suffering, the price of everything is going up because the value of money is going down. very soon money will just be paper, worthless. we are too dependent on oil and it's byproduct, gas. if our supply of oil runs out we will be like a junkie without supply. civilization WILL crumble into nothing, we are so far along the path to destruction i don't think we can change it. my question? how can ordinary people change the path? and how can we survive if we can't change?
