Come clean, what on Earth was there not to like about JFK?

My father was in the Navy in WWII and he didn't like him at all but not because of his politics. According to him, it was gross negligence to get a PT boat run over by a destroyer and he must not have had anyone on watch. The media made him a hero because his father was a rich bootlegger.
